So what do you do when your stinky midsection betrays an otherwise healthy vagina? The first step is to actually make sure that your vagina is in tip-top shape.

What's a Vagina Supposed to Smell Like?

Throughout your menstrual cycle, it's normal to have a variety of vaginal discharges. Vaginal discharge can take the form of the non-fertile, viscous- and sticky-type discharge to the very fertile, slippery- and clear-type discharge that occurs close to menstruation.

Abnormal discharges are accompanied by itchiness, raunchy smells, and/ or gray-, yellow- or green-colored discharges.

The second step to restoring your vagina to health involves to ruling out the possibility of having vaginal conditions like bacterial vaginosis, a yeast infection or trichomonas vaginitis.

Bacterial vaginosis

Bacterial vaginosis (BV), while more common than yeast infections, doesn't get much attention in the media.

The cause of bacterial vaginosis remains unclear but this condition is linked to sexual activity and douching. According to a University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) study, a sexually transmitted virus that infects vaginal lactobacilli may cause bacterial vaginosis.

Vaginal lactobacilli are required to maintain a healthy pH and bacterial balance within the vagina. Once this balance is disrupted by a virus, the vagina no longer has a protective barrier and is more susceptible to infection.

In the 1999 UIC study, Sylvia Pavlova, senior research specialist, and Lin Tao, associate professor of oral biology, found that viruses may cause bacterial vaginosis. Moreover bacterial vaginosis could be sexually transmitted.

If untreated, bacterial vaginosis can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, tubal pregnancy, or, pre-term labor if you are pregnant.

Only your doctor can diagnose bacterial vaginosis. Your doctor would prescribe oral antibiotics or antibiotic vaginal inserts to treat bacterial vaginosis.

What to look and smell for:

Increased vaginal discharge. A fishy vaginal odor and white or gray milk-like discharge.

Yeast infection

If you've used antibiotics, been pregnant, have diabetes, or wear tight clothing, chances are you've experienced an overgrowth of vaginal yeast. Overgrowth of the yeast Candida albicans is largely blamed for causing yeast infections.

Most women find their yeast infection treatment in over-the-counter preparations at drug stores. Other times you can find yeast infection relief by moderating your sugar intake and supplementing your diet with more foods that contain Lactobacillus (L.).

Dr. Tori Hudson, who serves a medical director of A Woman's Time, recommends that you eat foods that contain at least three of the following forms of Lactobacillus when naturally treating a yeast infection: L. acidophilus, L. fermentum. L. plantarum, L bulgaricus, L. casei, or L. rhamnosus.

While a research war still ranges over the effectiveness of Lactobacillus against combating yeast infections, women still notice improvements with their vaginal infections after supplementing their diet with this probiotic.

What to look and smell for:

Symptoms include a white cottage cheese-like discharge, itching, redness, and irritation.

Trichomonas vaginitis

Trichomonas vaginitis comes in as the third leading cause of vaginal infections.

Commonly called "hooker", I mean "trick", trichomonas vaginitis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by a tiny single-celled parasite. Like bacterial vaginosis, trichomonas vaginitis can be transmitted through intercourse.

Your doctor would have to test you to diagnose trichomonas vaginitis. She will prescribe antibiotics as a treatment.

What to look and smell for:

Increased amount of vaginal discharge. Possible itching. Itching and redness accompanied by a yellow-green discharge.

You know what the ironic thing about this smelly vagina business is?

It is that if you get bacterial vaginosis or trichomonas vaginitis, your doctor will prescribe antibiotics, but after using the antibiotics, your chances of getting a vaginal yeast infection shoot up. Who designed this health scenario anyway?

Before you curse, Wanda, let me offer you these tips for vaginal health to use at you own discretion:

The vagina needs to breathe, so let it. Wear pantyhose less often. Use knee-highs or thigh-highs instead. Wear cotton underwear instead of synthetic underwear. Use condoms during sex. Even though the theory that sex can cause a vaginal infection remains contested, use a condom is a preventative until the infection gone. Add one teaspoon of boric acid or a half-cup of hydrogen peroxide to two quarts of warm water. (For the boric acid to mix well you need to make sure the water is warm). Use the boric acid or hydrogen peroxide douche for two weeks and stop. The boric acid and hydrogen peroxide should increase the amount of lactic acid within the vagina. This increased amount of lactic acid within the vaginal helps restore the proper bacterial balance within the vaginal and reduces the chances of re-infection. Eat less sugar so that you don't feed the yeast. See a doctor if you still have doubts. The Mayo Clinic Women's "HealthSource" newsletter has cautioned women against hastily self-diagnosing vaginal problems and labeling every smelly vagina issue as a "yeast infection". This may not allows be the case.

How To Henna Your Hair

Although we use henna as a hair color, it has wonderful side benefits. It thickens hair, and leaves it silky and strong. But you have to buy pure henna (or henna mixed with plant extracts that are clearly labeled). And you must do a strand test first.

1) whether you will like the final color, and

2) how long to leave the henna on to get that color.

Because henna is often left on the hair for an hour or more, it would be wise to set aside a large chunk of time. Between the preparation of the henna, the strand test, the application, and the leave-in time, you might want to x out an afternoon for the project

Who Can Use Henna

The best heads for henna are brunettes and dark blonds. Hair that is naturally very dark will look smashing with red henna highlights.

Got gray? Contrary to popular opinion, you can get good results with henna. To go brunette, choose a henna that's been mixed with brown taken from safe plant powders like walnut, clove, and even a little Indigo. (But use common sense - if you're allergic to walnuts or sensitive to clove, don't use these products.) If you'd rather turn your gray hair blond, find henna that's been mixed with rhubarb root or other natural ingredients.

Henna Color Choices

The reds are the most used, have the least amount of additives, and - if they are pure (read the label, research the Internet, join a henna forum) are completely safe. The browns and blonds are fun, too.

Henna does not lighten hair. It won't lift the color, like commercial dyes can do. So you must get a shade that somewhat matches your own, or is darker. Brunettes can easily go red, blonds can go brunette or red. But there's no way a brunette can go blond.

A Few Words of Caution

Do not use henna over commercially colored hair. It's safest to wait at least 2 months after a commercial dye job, before using henna. Some women have had no problems waiting only 1 month, but again, that's what the strand test is for.

About a week or so before you're planning to henna, use a clarifying shampoo. That will help strip out the old color.

Be sure you're buying a brand of henna that does not contain metallic salts. These are extremely unhealthy. They may be labeled on the box as compound henna dye, or they may not be listed at all.

How can you tell if your henna contains metallic salts if they're not listed in the ingredients? If your strand test leaves your hair swatch brittle or dried-out, or if the color "takes" very quickly, that probably means it contains metallic salts. Don't use it.

Black henna is alright to use as long as it's made with Indigo. Avoid PPD Black Henna, as it contains Para-Phenylenediamine - a dye - which is extremely harmful.

What to Buy

The safest henna is body-art quality henna. But there are also many well-known, well-used, safe and ethically labeled packaged hair hennas. Just use common sense: If there are ingredients listed that you are unfamiliar with, write them down, go home, and run them through your search engine.

Henna does not have a long shelf life. Don't buy it and then keep it around forever - it will lose its potency. You can seal it and freeze it, though, and it will last at least a year.

Now for the Fun

Many women consider the preparation of henna to be a ritual. The plant-based dye looks like a green powder, and has a peculiar fragrance, kind of like hay. The odor goes away in a day or so.

Assuming you have a box of pure red henna, empty it into a glass or plastic bowl. If you've bought it in bulk, use about 1 cup. Never use metal utensils, bowls, or even hairclips when mixing and applying.

Now, boil up some water. Pour the boiling water into the henna, a little at a time. Stir. Keep doing this until you get a paste consistency. Add a couple of pre-beaten eggs if you want, to keep the consistency sticky. Many women add a half cup of strong coffee to tone down the red a little. If you add coffee, use less boiling water. You don't want the mixture to end up drippy.

Put a cream or oil around your hairline to keep the henna from coloring your ears and forehead. And don't forget the gloves (or you'll also get red hands!).

Apply the paste to clean, dry hair. If it's your first henna treatment, saturate the hair completely. Then wrap it all up with either a plastic bag or some plastic wrap. On top of all that, you might want to wrap a towel, just so you don't frighten the children. Some women use a heated towel. Here's why you absolutely must have done the strand test: It's the only way to know how long to leave the henna on your head. It could be anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours or more.

When the timer rings, hit the shower. The whole process is messy, so don't make neatness an issue or you'll go nuts. Rinse the henna out - no need to shampoo. Finish with an organic, non-animal tested conditioner. Your color should last for 2 or 3 months, except for root growth.

And you're done. There will be a lot of clean-up involved, but you'll have awesome, silky, strong, healthy red hair. (Or whatever color you choose.) Once you start using henna, you might find you love it so much you'll never go back to anything else.

You may also consider modern lighting to further enhance the look. Install a sky light if possible, or use contemporary light fixtures that are made of stainless steel and are curved or edgy in shape; the more light you can bring in to the room, the better. A contemporary kitchen is clean, ultra modern and spacious. Use the ideas in this article, and think outside the box to come up with a few original ideas of your own! You can incorporate any items you may already have, just paint them with a coordinating shade in high-gloss for totally modern appeal.

Returning The Security Deposit To Tenants, A Mini Guide For Real Estate Investors - Part 3

So far, in the first article you started looking into managing your investments yourself as a possibility. It is just a matter of knowing how to do it. These step by step articles bring the property management job to a more enjoyable exercise. It is like eating an elephant, just one bite at a time until is done.

The tenants are qualified over the phone and at the actual interview they filled the application. After running a credit report and checking the income or the employment, the applicant becomes a tenant by paying the first month rent and the security deposit. The security deposit is your security, and you have to use it if necessary.

The security deposit should be a different amount than the rent being charged, but no more than one and half the rent. For example, for a 0 rent the deposit could be between 0 and no more than 0.

When the tenant moves out and the property/apartment is left in good condition, and normal wear and tear is accepted, the deposit is refunded, less a carpet cleaning fee in our area.

To make it clear the Rental Agreement should have this line: "The tenant will be charged a cleaning fee, separate from the security deposit tendered for this agreement."

Here is what my Residential Lease/Rental Agreement has about the Security Deposit:

SECURITY DEPOSIT: $__________ as security deposit is to indemnify owner against damage to the property and for Tenant's fulfillment of the conditions of this agreement. The Bank holds deposits into a commercial account. Deposit will be returned to Resident, thirty (30) days after the residence is vacated if:

- Lease term has expired or agreement has been terminated by both parties, and - All money due Management by Resident have been paid, and - Residence is not damaged and is left in its original condition, normal wear and tear expected, and - Management is in receipt of copy of paid final utility bill (electricity, gas) and, - Deposit will not be returned if Resident leaves before lease time is completed. Deposit may be applied by - Management to satisfy all or part of Resident's obligation and such act shall not prevent Management from claiming damages in excess of the deposit. Resident may not apply the deposit to any of the rent payment.

In my eight years of property management I returned a full 100% deposit few times. If the tenant leaves behind anything, that becomes "trash removal" and I charged for each bag. The reusable items get to "Salvation Army." Many times I can not recover the rent lost or the cost for repairs.

Garnishing the ex tenant' job income, is one solution, and that means per month for few months, until the ex tenant changes the job and disappear, from my radar screen.

My lawyer was able to recover my loss from an evicted tenant by getting the state tax check refund. It amazes me how much one can do with knowledge and a court judgment paper. If the tenant(s) leave without a forwarding address I mail the "Security Deposit Notice to Tenant" with proof of mailing to vacated apartment address and let the Post Office to redirect the mail further. I still have my proof of mail receipt and eventually the returned envelope in case some ugly ideas comes in an ex tenant' mind. You should recover your losses using your landlord' rights and the help of your team of advisers.

The lists of "Normal wear and tear versus Damages" can save us from disputes. Here I have both lists for you:

Wear and Tear

Peeling or cracked paint; Worn enamel in old bathtub; Worn or cracked linoleum in places where appliances had been; Cracked window pane due to faulty foundation and settling; Door that sticks in humidity; Small pieces of wall plaster chipped; Faded Tile; Faded lampshade; Slow sink drainage because of system; Floors need new coat of varnish; Wallpaper corners coming loose because glue has aged; Closet sliding door sticking; Paint faded on kitchen walls; Dirty or faded window shades;

Damages

Drawing on walls; Shower rod missing; Chipped and broken enamel in bathtub; Round holes in the floor where tenant removed bar counter stools; Broken window caused by tenant slamming the window shut; Holes in carpet by cigarette burns or carpet damaged by ruse and mildew stain from tenant' plant containers; Cracked wood door that does not close properly because resident hammered in the metal striker; Large chunks of plaster ripped of wall; Painted over kitchen or bathroom tiles; Missing fixtures; holes in ceiling where fixture has been removed; Toilet backed up because resident flushed unknown object down it; Wood floors gouged when moving furniture; Closet sliding doors off track; Walls burned in Kitchen from burner tuned too high; Tiles missing or cracked; Torn window shades;

The Move in List signed and dated no later than 7 day from getting the keys and some pictures may discourage tenants from getting into a dispute over damages at the end of tenancy.
